Seated Catalog of Feelings, 2018
Interactive installation, sound.
Seated Catalog of Feelings is a multisensory installation artwork in which participants, seated in chairs inspired by those found in American libraries, experience sensations with their entire body, described by text shown on floor projections and spoken through headphones. For this exhibition, the work has been adapted to resonate with Korean sensibilities, featuring over 90 sensations (e.g. popping popcorn in a microwave oven, frying crisp bacon, sharpening a pencil) that are sure to stimulate Korean viewers through a whirlwind of familiar and unfamiliar sensations. The artwork is personalized for each seated participant through vibrations linked to the catalogue items, while observers get to enjoy seeing the motion graphics that appear on the wall behind the chairs.
